We're fixing what's broken with ride-hailing — starting in Sri Lanka.

TruRout is a homegrown ride-hailing platform — founder-funded, built with a team of 15, and designed around one belief: drivers should keep everything they earn, and riders should never be surprised by their fare.

Mission

Zero percent commission. Not a promotion. The whole model.

Vision

Sri Lanka first. The region next.

Values

One founder. 15 people. One mission.

Our story

We asked why — and couldn't find a good answer.

The standard ride-hailing model takes a percentage of every fare the driver earns. The more a driver works, the bigger the cut taken from their earnings. The harder they grind, the more is collected on top.

We couldn't find a good reason for that. So in 2025, a small team in Sri Lanka decided to build something different.

TruRout isn't a foreign product adapted for a local market. It's built here, by people who live here, for drivers and riders who deserve better than what's currently on offer. It's founder-funded — no venture capital, no outside investors — which means every decision is made with one priority: building something genuinely good for the people using it.

How it works

Zero percent commission. Not a promotion. The whole model.

A commission model takes a percentage of every fare a driver earns. On a good day, that can be thousands of rupees handed over for simply using an app.

TruRout works differently. Drivers pay a simple, flat subscription to access the platform — and that's it. Every rupee of every fare goes directly to the driver. No per-ride cut. No percentage. No ceiling on what you can earn in a week.

It's not a limited-time offer. It's not a promotional rate for new drivers. It's the permanent, foundational model TruRout is built on — because we believe a platform should be a tool for drivers, not a tax on their labour.

0%
Commission on every ride, forever.
For drivers

Drive more. Keep more. Finally.

When you drive with TruRout, the fare is yours. All of it.

Here's what driving with TruRout means in practice:

  • 0% commission

Pay a flat subscription. Everything else is your income.

  • Full fare, every ride

No per-trip deductions and no platform fee on any trip — TruRout covers the card processing cost.

  • Transparent platform

You always know where you stand. No algorithm surprises, no unexplained deductions.

  • Fair matching

Smart technology that connects you to nearby riders quickly, so less time waiting means more time earning.

  • Built for the road

The driver app is designed for real conditions: fast to load, clear to read, and built to work even on a busy day.

TruRout doesn't make money from your fares. We make money when drivers see the value in staying on the platform — so your success and ours are aligned from day one.

For riders

Know your fare before you book. Every time.

Surge pricing exists because platforms can charge more when demand is high. We chose not to build it.

TruRout uses a straightforward, fixed pricing model — a base fare, plus a rate per kilometre travelled, plus any applicable wait time. That's the full formula. There are no multipliers, no peak-time premiums, no dynamic pricing that doubles your fare on a rainy evening or after a concert.

What you see when you book is what you pay.

Pricing breakdown:
  • Base fare

A fixed starting amount for every ride.

  • Distance rate

A per-kilometre rate, consistent regardless of time or demand.

  • Wait time

A small per-minute rate if your driver has to wait. Fair for the driver. Clear to you.

  • No surge pricing

    Ever.

For riders, this means budgeting for transport is simple. For drivers, it means fares are consistent and predictable. For TruRout, it means trust — which we think is worth more than the extra revenue surge pricing would generate.

The team

One founder. 15 people. One mission.

TruRout was founded and fully funded by one person — and built with a team of 15 engineers, product designers, operations, and support staff, all working toward the same goal.

There are no venture capital investors at the table, no external shareholders to answer to, and no pressure to grow at the expense of the drivers and riders we're building for. Every decision comes back to the same question: does this make TruRout better for the people using it?

That independence is something we take seriously. Founder-funded means no board of directors can vote to change the 0% commission model next quarter. No investor can push for a faster monetisation strategy at the driver's expense. The person who started this is still the person making the calls — and those calls are made in favour of the community first.

We're a focused team with a clear conviction — and we think that's exactly what this problem needs.

Where we're headed

Sri Lanka first. The region next.

TruRout is launching in Sri Lanka because this is home. This is where the problem is real to us, where we understand the roads, the riders, and the drivers, and where we want to prove the model works.

Once we do — once drivers across Sri Lanka are earning more, riders are booking with confidence, and the platform has earned its place in the market — we'll take that same model to the rest of the region.

Not a rushed expansion. Not growth for growth's sake. We'll move when we're ready, and when the communities we enter are genuinely better off for it.

The ride-hailing industry in South and Southeast Asia is overdue for a platform that puts people first. We intend to be that platform.
